Where did bungy jumping originate? For centuries the people of Vanuatu in the Pacific have been leaping from tall towers with vine ropes attached to their ankles. From the ancient ritual, bungy jumping with latex rubber began at the Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club in the 1970’s. Commercial bungy jumping followed in the 1980’s developed by a group of “Kiwis” and so the bungy phenomenon was born. |
