Where does Bungy jumping come from?
For centuries the people of Vanuatu, in the Pacific, have been leaping from tall towers with vine ropes attached to their ankles. From this ancient ritual, bungy jumping with latex rubber began at the Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club in the 1970's. Commercial bungy jumping followed in the 1980's, developed by a group of "Kiwi's" and so the bungy phenomenon was born. For more info go to our History page.
